Tree Stump Killer

Question:
I have several shrub stumps (ie camellia and osmanthus) that I want to kill. The shrubs were planted about 20 years ago so they are quite big; they are all in the same bed and there are no other plants there. I have bought 'Deep Root Ultra Tree Stump and Weedkiller' which contains sachets of liquid killer. Once I have covered the stumps with the killer liquid, I am not sure whether I should then cover them with plastic to protect them from rain in the coming days/weeks/months. I would be very grateful for your advice regarding this, as I would like to give the killer treatment the best opportunity to successfully work.
Answer:
I have done some research and although there is no actual need to protect the stumps after treatment, I think it would be advisable to cover the stumps as you suggest. As well as giving protection from the weather it will also stop wildlife accidentally getting in contact with the weedkiller. It is worth noting that this treatment kills living plant tissue and roots but does not degrade them. You will have to wait for them to degrade naturally over time.
